Institute for Territorial Development

Institute for Territorial Development (IRT), as a subsidiary unit of the Self Government of Lower Silesia which is located in the south – western Poland. Institute is a consultative body responsible for providing accurate knowledge and information about the region as well as formulation and monitoring of the territorial policy of Lower Silesia.

The IRT also conducts applied research activity which supports the optimization of the decision-making processes.

The IRT  employees 50 people in Wroclaw and Legnica. They represent various specializations eg. spatial and urban planning, environmental planning, transport infrastructure planning, geography, economy, GIS modelling.

The IRT focuses on following general goals:

  • provision of accurate and comprehensive knowledge on regional territory and its development,
  • maintaining and developing effective regional and international cooperation in the fields of research and development,
  • stimulating development initiatives in the region and serving public bodies with our knowledge.
